It’s not at all by chance that I write this on my birthday. That’s right, today is my birthday. I’m one of the WPSumo founders, namely Dragos Roua, and I’m really happy to talk to you again. It’s been a while.
First of all, I want to thank to Horia and Iulian for their tremendous work and support in getting this thing off the ground. We founded WPSumo together, and what you see right now couldn’t have be done without their effort and commitment. But, as much as we would like to keep it safe and straight, life has different challenges for each of us. Iulian and Horia decided to pursue different roads.
So, I’m here with a new team, a new product approach and, of course, new challenges. Although the “takeover” has been done a few weeks ago, I didn’t want to make it public until all the bits and pieces have been taken care of. Over the past few weeks, I reviewed the source code, the support systems for the site, the roadmaps and also tried to put the membership system live again. Everything looks to be working fine now. If you do notice some glitches, please make them public on the forums.
For now, the focus will be in stabilizing the source code, releasing an intermediary version with two child themes, and putting together the roadmap for WPSumo v 2.0. As always, I count on you for feedback, suggestions and constructive criticism. We intend to have this release during November.
Over the next month we will release at least one child theme per month. Child themes will be offered separately, but will need the framework in order to function. We have a very specific strategy in place for this, but again, as always, your input and feedback will be very helpful. In the end, you know better what you want to build so feel free to send suggestions for future child themes. We cannot guarantee that we will implement them all, but at least we will read all your suggestions and try to find a balance among all the proposal.
So, it’s my birthday today. It’s a new beginning.
A new challenge.
